Wordpress account and Gravatar account, why using Gravitar account for login at Akismet?

Sorry for my stupid! I would like to know why using Gravatar account to register for Akismet? (it doesn't mean wordpress account?)

I get confused when it asks to login with wordpress, so I just use wordpress account but it shows it's wrong password or sth. then I rewatch the vid and Zac Gordon uses Gravatar account and it works!

WordPress, Gravatar & Akismet are all owned by the company Automattic. So when you create an account on one of those websites, it's transferrable to the other Automattic websites.
