hey everyone, since committing myself to fully learning and becoming a developer, i've been getting bad pains in my wrist. i watched the video on workspace set up:
http://teamtreehouse.com/library/photoshop-foundations/workflow-basics/-setting-up-your-workspace
but i was wondering if any of you have a more in depth way of how you set your desk up to avoid wrist pain or any links you can share and maybe links to pics of your current workspace?
i was thinking about getting a standup desk and a swiss ball if i want to sit to keep my abs under contraction.
also, can anyone recommend what they do to avoid wrist pain? cushions? different mouse pads? i use a macbook and use the trackpad. should i stop using it? should i stretch my forearms more? any advice and or links to purchase items/information would help, thank you!

23,800 PointsI'm totally with you on this. I think you should really look into some ergonomic gear, like those keyboards with the foam wrist wrest and a mouse. The track pad on my computers drive me crazy.
I've seen some do it yourself guides for stand up desks that seem pretty reasonable, but you and I both probably would rather have one of those sweet motorized ones.
I also try to run at least 4 or 5 times a week and get my stretch on to combat all the body and joint pain that comes with sitting at my desk 100 hours a day.

8,389 Pointsthat's a great idea nicholas. i absolutely hate sitting at a desk like a drone. i'll look explore the standing option.
i was thinking about having a stand up station that i can diy mount myself and it can slide to sit if i get tired on my feet and use a swiss ball to sit. would you recommend any special type of keyboard or a specific angle my elbows should be? should i also look into getting an actual monitor or a cushion keyboard?

9,523 PointsHey Gabe,
I did a version of this IKEA Hack. It ends up being pretty tall. I am 6'3" and it is a touch high but since I always have my elbows spread - it works nicely. I do have a board that goes across in front unlike this persons version. That way i can sit down when need be. Most days I sit about an hour. You shouldn't always sit or stand.
I have the Microsoft Sculpt Comfort Keyboard and I love it. It takes a bit of getting used to though.
I also use Wacom Tablet. It helps me move my wrist in a new way. But don't forget breaks are always a good solution. Go and take a 10 minute walk and get some air.
Hope that helps!
