Working through web development track....what's next?

More often than not, I'm a victim of my own need to fully understand something before starting to use it in "real world" situations. Unfortunately, given the many hours one needs to dedicate to become a great developer, this can mean that I'll never get to do whatever projects I want because I'll always be stuck in the classroom.

Can someone please recommend what I can be doing now and once I finish the web development track?

Obviously I'll continue to learn and sign up for the other tracks, but I want to be sure that I'm proactively using my newly learned skills.

Are there any projects I can take on? Should I just build a simple website for "giggles"?

Any guidance on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

It really depends on what path you want to take. Think about what interests you. Do you want to build websites? If so, what kind of website? Do you want to build apps? Website apps? Games? Test? Front-end, back-end? I would do some research and find out what interests you most. Then pick a project that you can work on to keep your skills sharp as well as learn new material. A few ideas would be to try and clone a couple games or websites. Also, you could always try and create your own personal website that you are always updating and showing off your most recent work on.
