Xcode White Interface/Theme

Hey everyone!

I was curious.

Is the white screen/theme in Xcode hard on your eyes after you have looked at it for a long time while watch each course.

I have noticed that when watching and following along with Pasan Premaratne, I have to take breaks.

If i have Xcode open on my computer and have the theme changed to the dark one, i notice i can look at the screen longer.

I just find it hard to focus on the content with the white theme and i get sleepy as well.

Was wondering if anyone experience this?

Thanks in advance for your reply!

Happy Coding!!

Hey Derrick Codlyn

I am not a fan of light themes either

The only reason we keep the white theme is because it's the default and we don't want to trip up new students by having our IDEs look different from what they have.

A long time ago we used the dark theme in content and there were enough students who had issues with text/background contrast that we decided to stick with whatever the default editor theme was

Hope that makes sense

I always use the darker themes when available. Personal preference myself. I hate staring at a white canvas all the time.

I wouldn't have a problem with the white, but when trying to watch the videos it's difficult.

But in regards to choosing the white over dark, i always like the dark theme. :)

But my main issue really is trying to focus on the video content is difficult with the white theme.

Hopefully going forward they could experiment with the dark theme for their video like i have seen in some other vidoes around the web. Seems easier on the eyes.
