23,869 PointsYour opinion: Business and Design Critique
Hi folks!
We recently started our business in web design with a small company in the southern part of Germany at the foot of the black forest. Yeah! :-)
As our webpage www.werkzeug-kasten.com is still new we are curious about your professional opinion.
What do you think about the content? Is the call to action becoming clear?
How do you perceive the allover design?
What's your opinion about the visual metaphor?
Do you have technical issues when viewing our site? (If it affects the responsiveness would you please post the screen size you encountered a possible issue or the name of the respective device?)
Are load times acceptable?
We do not expect the site to be pixel perfect as it is a responsive one. Nevertheless - needless to say - the site should make a good impression to customers.
Thank you very much Marc

9,066 PointsOver all I like the design. The responsiveness seemed a little glitchy. I couldn't really tell what was causing it, but when I resized to around phone size the toggle/drop down didn't work. But I can't recreate that action now... so not sure what happened.

4,506 Pointson the tech side:
- the load times are too long in my humble opinion - probably caused by too many http requests and too large images.
about the http requests: -> i would concatenate scripts and stylesheets. one script call in the header (for scripts like modernizer and alikes), one at the bottom of the page (for jquery and its plugins and so on) as well as one stylesheet call in the header. -> aside that i would minify not only the scripts but also the stylesheet.
about the images sizes: -> i would use a responsive image solution like picturefill to save bandwidth for smaller viewports. webloesungen_webdesign_freiburg_img.jpg has a width of 1920px - an overkill for a mobile viewport. -> as well as retina resolutions are missing for x1,5 and x2. ( unsure if you wanna include even x3)
and you get quite "a few" console errors about your google maps include.
the design and content are ok.
