Hi Malcolm,

What error messages are you getting in Android studio? Your post title suggests you're having an issue with the given id for Android TextField or maybe a warning given from the console.

Try refactoring your TextField's id slightly by including the id prefix in the value... like this

  android:id="@+id/yourGivenId"

Hi Jonathan. I finally saw my error. I used the android:id twice.

<TextView android:id="@android:id/empty" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" />

is the solution.
