Angular 2

Will there be a course / workshop about angular 2 on treehouse any time soon?

For anyone who's just started with Angular learning 1 doesn't make any sense. It will be ready for production by the end of the year. I already see jobs listing Angular 2 as a nice to have .. we need a tutorial yesterday!

Please could you let us know the approximate timescale/month/months that a Angular v2 tutorial will be released? As if not soonish I will need to find another online video course ...but don't want to pay for another if Treehouse is bringing one out soon.

I second this, I would love to have an Angular2 course here on Treehouse!

The main difference between RC1 + RC4 is the forms module and routing. Animation is new so page transitions aren't really possible ATM in a non hacky way, although animating components is and is really slick compared to A1.

Here's where I'm gettin' ma learnings.

I'm also using Material design which fits in nice with A2.

My number one tip is to use Angular Cli! Really takes the pain out of getting it set up and has loads of commands for generating components.

It's still in beta, and though the initial reviews say it is a huge improvement, I'm sure there are still changes that will be made before Treehouse decides to make a new video series.

If it helps though, here's a preemptive beginners guide that you could get started with: http://antjanus.com/blog/tutorials/the-beginners-preemptive-guide-to-angularjs-2-alpha/

Totally would love a course on angular2. I want to start with angular in the upcoming days and would love to use treehouse again for this. I don'T think it makes any sence to start with angular 1 now, as they seem to differ a lot. Is there an update on the status of the angular 2 course?

Gotta hop on and add my bump to this request. Was talking to a developer friend of mine who has worked extensively with Angular 1 over the past few years and he said it is definitely worthless to learn at this point, probably only 6 more months or so of usefulness for Angular 1 (for employment purposes) from the time of this posting (his estimate). I won't be learning Angular 1 here on treehouse, will be looking elsewhere to learn alternatives to Angular for now. An unfortunate interruption to the Full Stack JavaScript track that I've been plugging away at.

Ok, I'm a month deep into an Angular 2 project and I can see why there isn't a tutorial yet. Several major parts have changed over the last few months and RC5 is about to drop with yet more changes. I think it has settled down a lot but it just isn't ready yet. My app won't be going into production until the end of the year so I'm OK (I had a lot of long evening figuring out the difference between RC1 & RC4) .. But for most people it's not really good for anything else other than personal projects in the meantime.

Fun, futuristic, & frustrating. Approach with caution.

Thanks for that update. Gleaning from your experience and the advice of a friend, I think I am going to move forward learning react and feathers instead of angular, and wait to learn angular 2 until it is really ready to go.

I say go for learning Angular 2 .. just make sure you stick to RC4+ It's not a nightmare .. but there are a few gotchas. Just don't use it if your in a hurry or your ass is on the line.

I'm about to start this course, looks like a good alternative and is free.

Angular 2 has been released.

For anyone who's interested I would stick to the docs .. up to date tutorials should begin rolling in shortly.

I would guess we'll get something from Treehouse before Xmas.

Huston Hedinger Ryan Carson ++ for angular 2 course. this is well overdue

Just noticed 'Angular2 Basics.. Upcoming' has disappeared. Is this course still in motion?

Hi all,

Angular 2 Basics is still in pre-production - we started just before the official release of Angular 2. The course name will be Angular Basics since Angular 4 will be very similar to 2.

Keep an eye on the roadmap for the upcoming course. We normally put it on there when production starts.

Regards,
Andrew

Great! thanks Andrew. Looking forward to it :)
