Any other 3d artists on treehouse?

Was just curious it anyone besides myself was a 3d artist on treehouse? If so I was interested in what made you join and what your goals are. Thanks

HI,

Im not a 3D artist, but i want to get into it maybe in a year time or whenever i get comfortable with Rails .

Id like to create my own imperium of game with C# and get into modeling a little bit more. Want to create my own graphics , modles whatever and you know, make it into the game .

I really like villages so id like to make trees , old house , castels etc.. and depending how good id get, make a MMORPG game , and if things would go like i want, id like to make a proper game, which i have ideas, maybe unique , at least i did 4 years ago and now i see stuff made by others xd but later in my life i want to get into it 100% .

Really want to make games and apps with C family . SOme models my self as well , unless id would really engioj it .

Thats my plan for future. But want to get into it as soon as i finish with Rails, which i havent even started . Maybe next year. Or somewhat sooner.

I used to be, but I decided to switch from aspirant 3D real time artist to front-end developer, and I don't regret it. That's why I first registered here at treehouse. Thanks to that I found a steady job quite quickly in comparison with 3D. The only jobs I could have as 3D artist were on small projects, and jobs I had to do remotely or small missions. With a family I coudln't keep going this way.

That's however a field I really like a lot... I often want to start my 3D application and start some projects but I can't due to the lack of free time...

My goals ? be more effective with coding :) and maybe create again some 3D scenes when I have some free time again !

Konrad Pilch nice man so an environment artist then? There is actually more jobs for that then a 3d character artist. I created an environment before and brought it into UDK would be cool to do a castle one day in unreal engine that will take some time though. I want to be more effective with coding as well. It all takes time game development, I spent two weeks studying coding in Unity and I don't even remember it haha, its like anything else you gotta keep at it. I did a course on rails from Udemy was pretty cool, I made a blog with it. Still alot to learn I havent touched the rails track on treehouse yet though, don't want to become too bogged down with learning too much at once.

geoffrey Yes its true, there is no money in character design unless you started it at an early age and have built yourself up. All the good jobs would require relocating to California , as far as 3d freelance I get clients once in a blue moon.

My goals are to make creative interactive web applications, and make some wordpress themes. I love to design, and do art. I have alot of goals and can see myself working as a front end developer or wordpress theme developer. I just gotta keep studying. I finished the wordpress course how to create a theme now I am using foundation framework for the first time and creating a site for artists who want a quick way to show their work. I have also been dabbling with Three.js. I read the success stories and I don't know I am at 10204 now points wise, but still need to show proven work. I really need a new job though because my current job, I do way too much, and get little pay for it. I literally do IT, answer phones, live chat, print, webdesign, programming, take sales calls sometimes. I am not learning anything new with my current employment, I really need to get into a front end job and have some new challenges, and work for a company that is structured properly and will allow me to actually work on what was assigned to me web or design wise.

I also eventually wanted to put out interactive comics I create using web based technologies, create an art troubleshooter app for android, eventually make a game, put a book on designs too much stuff haha.

Would you like to get in touch via email or preferably with skype ?

Saying a bit bigger overview from my self, i want to do same as you . Now im learning WP development and im doing my first blog theme coding it from skrtch. Basically the same thing what Zac is teaching on Bootstrap to WP and now im doing it on my own :D

Now, soon i want to do WooCommerce as well.

After all that, i want to get a job part-time in it, as well as side-freelance . I have one client now, which i did take the challenge, but im not sure if i can finish one thing xd hopefuly id find out the answer, and its a friend ish as well so it should be a little bit ok .

After i can get income with WordPress, since its fairy easy, and id earn, i would go into Rails and build Web Apps like facebook, treehouse etc.. and start my online business which ill take hell a lot of effort but i want it form 4 years now , and cant find it, so i believe i have a unique idea for it, or at least levrage something etc.. wont go into too much details .

After that, im really interested into the C family . I want to do apps with Obj-C and want to do super cool enviroments in , well i have Unity and lots of tutorisas for it . But that takes time, a lot of time + 3D which i want to make it my self as well. I want to make a MMORPG game later in my life really, a unique one, although some ideas are comming now out as i see.

At the end , i dont care about money xdd i really dont like think about money when doing this. What i want is just have enough of them not to think about ;d or either do like WP themes , sites for others and that would be okay since its like a hobby i guess and not work .

Apart form that i want to set a business and all that stuff.. and make ti around 26-30 years old and im 18 .

I as well like to be polyvalent as a curious person, but that didn't help me very much. Doing at the same time 3D, Web development and others things is very difficult, I mean that's very difficult if you want to become an expert in each field !

Even in 3D It's pretty much difficult to master every speciality. It's quite tough to master animation at the same level as 3D modeling, rendering, texturing and etc...

Not to mention as you wrote the fact there are specialities in some specialities, such as environment, characters and etc... I on my side very like to model and create characters. I spent a lot of time to draw and learn anatomy to be good at this, but I was still far from the level of some great artist in my opinion.

I guess it all depends on your aims, It's good to have your mind filled with good ideas and projects like that, but handling everything at the same time all alone seems impossible to me.

As you wrote above, when you spend some time learning something and don't practice, you forget. And when you try to learn many different things at the same time, I have the feeling at the end, you know a little bit of everything, but you aren't a specialist in any field, so almost nobody wants you because most companies are looking for experts.

That's my 2 cents :)

geoffrey exactly. So I have basically stopped doing 3d or at least limiting it to weekends some times, so far I have had good progression with learning and application so no regrets here. I definitely do too much for my own good I need to focus on specific areas and go for that. I also see on alot of job postings you need to know this framework or that framework, or like in my example I have been studying wordpress development and then I was studying drupal as well, I see a job posting for joomla 20 minute drive from me haha I am like aw come on give me a break today lol. I think interactive webdesigner is better for me this way I can still be artsy. I am not too keen on backend dev work, but I do not overlook either. When I first came on treehouse I started with PHP dev track, then full stack, now wordpress dev so I don't know man something will click eventually. I really wanted to try UI Design but I do not have a mac I always wanted one they are pretty expensive, I recently built my pc early this year and spent well over 1k on it so yeah.

I've done a lot of 3D modeling (still do) though I've worked primarily as a level designer. I've worked on a couple of commercial titles and still do freelance 3D work. I also taught level design and lighting and texturing for games at a local University, so if you have any questions I would be happy to help.

Nice haah, I set up a live coding account recently to stream myself doing code but I ended up just doing 3d haah https://www.livecoding.tv/nufftalon/videos/

I want to eventually make a cool environment and get it in unreal engine, I have alot of cool ideas I want to implement.

Lately been doing that streaming and teaching on saturdays how to use zbrush or do keyshot renders and comping in photoshop. I have some cool projects coming up after i am done working on this gundam, its taking longer than I thought but thats because I am using zbrush only, I am going to properly model it in modo probably though when I am done.

Keep in touch man!

You have to delete the

At the end of your link in order to work.

Yeah thanks the system is adding that to my links for some reason...

You are the first one to delete it. Iv said it to like lots of other users about this but none make any change to it but write how it doesnt work : p i just want people get more aware of it because i cant change 100 of them every day for it to work the right way. The best would be if treehouse would automatically remove it.
