Laravel - Request for track

Upon research, it turns out that Laravel is the most popular php framework. Any possibility of creating a track for this?

@Sheldon Muir : I am currently working on a laravel course. It will be added to the roadmap soon, but May is my current timeline. Thanks all for the support!

Wonderful. Can't wait. Hopefully you make it thorough enough to be able to just about everything.

Can't wait! I was about to ask if Treehouse was considering a Laravel course. Is there any update on when it will be live?

This is a good thought! I am not sure about track specific to Laravel, but I will look into it as an idea Sheldon. However, I am currently developing a course on Laravel specifically, as well as, more coverage on object oriented code and frameworks in PHP.

Overview videos are fine but the lack of specific training in PHP frameworks is really becoming a weakness of PHP in general. If you study Ruby, inevitably you get right down to the meat of getting work done by working with Rails. Focus on a PHP framework for a change would be refreshing.

@Aaron: Are you recommending 'dropping' php and switching to ruby whole because it's easier to learn and use ruby with ruby on rails? Perhaps it's a lack of information on my part, but since php has a much wider community, it makes it easier to get a job as a php programmer than ruby?

@sheldon no I'm not recommending that they drop PHP. I am recommending that they do some specific framework courses so that the PHP track is a viable option to the Ruby Rails track.

Absolutely. 100% agree.

Would love to see it. It's one thing to have basic PHP courses, but frameworks are enormous and have a lot of project-specific approaches. You need to know a bit before you jump in. I have been hesitant to adopt any of the major frameworks because of my lack of experience with all the behind the scenes components. I don't care what they go with: CodeIgniter, CakePHP, Laravel, Zend etc. - just do something! :)

laravel 5 is out and folder structure is changed, I stuck in to understand folder structure and not able to install it on window. Is here is any tutorial through I can learn Laravel Installation on window.

+1

Great to hear, also very interested in Laravel!

Thanks for the reply Hampton. Any 'loose' eta on when additional php related videos will be posted { Laravel or OOP }? There still are many things I want to set out to do which I don't feel yet capable from what I've learned thus far from the videos.

I would love to see Laravel added to the library!

Laravel is a great choice and I want to learn. It's very active and very popular. it has the advantage also that it uses a lot of symfony 2 core components as does drupal. So you get a lot of framework coverage and learning that will help across multiple frameworks and some of the biggest around.

Any update on this course?

I'm pretty disappointed that there has not been an update on this.
