Treehouse TeacherNew course: Implementing Designs for Android
We just published a new Android course that builds on the work you've done in the Build a Self-Destructing Message App project, Implementing Designs for Android:
In this project we will see how to implement a clean and refreshing flat design for the Ribbit app from Build a Self-Destructing Message Android App. We will start out by implementing custom login and sign up screens, and then we will heavily customize the ListViews and the rest of the app, including using a custom theme and styles. Finally we'll add a few improvements to the app like pull-to-refresh in the Inbox and getting Gravatar images for users.
Check it out and let me know what you think! I'll keep an eye out for any issues here in the Forum, but I've gone through everything and think it's a really good course. Hope you all agree and get a lot out of it!

Treehouse TeacherThat's something I hope to cover by the end of the year. Thanks for the feedback!

Treehouse TeacherThe slice can be whatever width you want. I kept it small because it gets tiled automatically.

8,109 PointsHi Ben,
What did you use to get a slice of that background image to fill in the gap that occurred after our "FitStart" scaling operation on activity_login.xml file of Ribbit project?
Photoshop or just preview's cropper or any other tool?
Please reply,
Thanks.

Treehouse TeacherI think I used Pixlr, though I don't remember for sure. :)

Treehouse TeacherThis course was based on Parse, which is no longer available for users. As such we had to retire the course. If you're interested, though, you can manually step through the stages with these direct links to the first videos of each stage:
- 1 – Starting with Design Mockups
- 2 – Customizing the Login Screen
- 3 – Using Custom Styles and Themes
- 4 – Customizing the Action Bar
- 5 – Customizing a ListView for the Inbox
- 6 – Customizing a GridView for Friends
- 7 – Updating Other GridViews
- 8 – Adding Push Notifications from Parse.com

2,413 PointsIn this case, please, make changes in the teacher's notes of this video https://teamtreehouse.com/library/build-an-interactive-story-app/finishing-the-user-interface/customizing-the-buttons in the course "Building an interactive app". It has a link to the "Styles and themes" lesson of the retired course. It can be confusing. Thank you!

6,862 PointsCan we have an app with google maps integration! For a simple example like suppose I have a store, and I have an app for that, it shows how far I am from nearest the store, my exact location from the store on the map image with pointers showing other branches. Click on a pointer/button, taking me to the store by Jumping on Google maps gps.
