A Note on IDEs1:02 with Ben Jakuben
There are two main IDEs in use for Android development: Eclipse and Android Studio. Which should you use, and why?
Hey there, Android student.
Before you get started with this project,
I wanna talk briefly about the development tools.
You probably completed, Build a Simple Android App Using Android Studio.
But in this project, we are using Eclipse as the IDE.
For most of the time Android has been around, Eclipse was the main IDE for
Android development, which is why we originally used it for all of our courses.
That changed with the introduction of Android Studio.
[SOUND] Now that Android Studio is the recommended official tool and
also because more and more developers are using it,
we are refreshing these courses to use the new tools.
The code itself won't change much, if at all.
You can download Eclipse and follow along,
knowing that skills you learn will apply just the same in Android Studio.
Or you can proceed with these lessons using Android Studio and
just navigate the differences with help from the forum or teacher's notes.
Either way, don't let the tools get in your way.
The actual programming concepts and the code are the important parts.
All right, I hope you enjoy this course.
