Look at the last name in string. That person has two words in their last name and two words in their first name. Your pattern isn't allowing for that, so you need to adjust it.

players = re.search(r'''(?P<last_name>[\w\s-]+),\s
    (?P<first_name>[\w\s]+[^:])/s
    (?P<score>[\d{2}])''', string, re.X|re.M)

Getting the error players doesn't seem to be a regex object.

I just cant see what Im doing wrong.
