Does anyone have any good ideas for starter projects for aspiring front end developer? I'm trying to find "mini-projects" to get started on freelance websites to build my resume and skills. I see a lot of PSD to HTML (even though it's dead), and Wordpress stuff. Any other ideas?

14,146 PointsActually, what I meant was: what are some examples of projects that would be a good learning opportunity for a enty level dev.

33,856 PointsNearly everything I just posted has examples of really awesome designs you can learn from. Some of them are fairly low cost and you would get the code to inspect and see how they are doing it. Here's just one example on ThemeForest for $15. There is plenty of free stuff as well.
If I'm still not understanding, maybe you mean: what would be a project for a beginner web developer to start? In that case, just about anything; you have to start somewhere.

Courses Plus Student 17,771 PointsI always think making a personal site / blog / place for your portfolio to be is one of the best starting points if you are looking for a project to learn with. It is both a great place to get some practice, as well as extremely practical as a place that you can eventually showcase your skills to a future employer. My website was one of the first projects I started on when learning frontend stuff, but then branched out into simple open source projects, music projects, and wordpress projects to practice what I was learning on Treehouse. Hope this helps a bit.

Re-create this using pure CSS (except for the badge image itself)
JavaScript
- word guesser
- memory game
- shopping list
- weather widget (using Weather Underground AP)

14,146 PointsYes, this is more of what I'm talking about. Things like making my portfolio site, and small javascript programs that do stuff like the word guesser or shopping list. And recreating things in CSS is definitely something I'm starting to do more of. Do you have any advice on how to practice converting psd to html or practice creating a Wordpress site?
Also I would love a workshop that showed you how to convert that logo into an SVG!! Mat Helme and Guil Hernandez should totally do it. Their designing in the browser vs Illustrator was great.
