Treehouse TeacherNew Android Course and Track Changes!
Hi everybody!
I'm happy to announce that we've just published a new Android course, Android Activity Lifecycle. We've also made some changes to the Android track by removing some of the courses that didn't fit so well. Those courses are still around, and you can find them in the Library, but we felt it was time to pare down the beginner track to be a bit more straightforward, as well as not include some of the more out-of-date content which can be really confusing if you're not already familiar with Android. We've got a lot planned for these upcoming months, and I'm very much looking forward it!
Thanks!
Ben

Treehouse TeacherHey Tina! Try adding ?show_current_version=true to the end of the URL.

28,102 PointsThanks Ben, I added: ?show_current_version=true to the end and it brought up the track I am working on. The code Louisville program has given us permission to switch to the new track due to time constraints. I wanted to see how much time I would need to complete the new Android track compared to the time I have left to complete the one I've been working in.

Treehouse TeacherYou might have to add it to the end of the main track page. If you click here does it work?

Kevin Faust
15,353 Pointsupdate:
Never mind I saw a lot of people complaining how that section was outdated and full of deprecated stuff

2,636 Pointsso is it not worth doing the "Build a self destructing message" and just do the new "Android Activity Lifecycle" ? I'm asking since I came to the point where the message app would have been my next "milestone" but now it would be the lifecycle one
greetings~

4,622 PointsIf you are up for the challenge you can do the Build A Self Destructing Message course. I am currently working through it. If you are using Android Studio, it replaces the deprecated code with the correct code when you first set up the MainActivity which is the tab activity you will be using. As for some of the videos you will have to do your own research to find work arounds for some of the coding that will no longer work. In my opinion it is worth the trouble to do it because I have gained more knowledge from the research I have done to solve the problems I ran into.
Hope this helps.

15,353 PointsThanks for that Justin. After I complete the android life cycle section, I'll do the Self Destructing Message section. I agree that researching things when problems arise will help overall for the information to stick in your head

Treehouse Moderator 37,862 PointsHere is a link to an upcoming android course I found in the content roadmap.
Ben Deitch
Treehouse TeacherYep, everything we're currently working on can be found on the Content Roadmap. Coming up next, as Caleb pointed out :), is a refresh to the very first Android course. After that, we're hoping to do a course on Services.
