General Discussion

C#/.Net courses coming soon to Treehouse (maybe..)

To those of you who have not systematically gone through every forum thread the forum has, you probably can not even image how many times the question of Treehouse getting C# or .Net course has been asked or suggested (I'll paste a small sampling of links below)

Recently though, I was looking at the Treehouse jobs page:

https://teamtreehouse.com/jobs

..and one job posting in particular, for Portland Oregon (my hometown),

caught my eye for a Treehouse 'C#/.NET Teacher':

https://teamtreehouse.com/jobs/at-treehouse-a1b3a74c-0383-483a-a8cb-44f1f1344e0a

Here's a little excerpt from the position's description:

Qualifications:

Deep knowledge of C#, .NET, and related technologies

Experience with Mono is a plus

Passionate about creating a curriculum that takes people from zero to job-ready as a .NET Developer

Here's the small sampling of forum links about C#/.Net/ASP.net

(that show the level of potential interest for this category of courses):

To those whose free trial for PluralSight C# courses

http://www.pluralsight.com/search/?searchTerm=C%23

..has run out, I'm sure this will be welcome news.

Oh...and as I was writing this it occurs to me that most people here on the Treehouse have never heard of MonoTouch for mobile iOS and Mono for Android.

..probably have never even downloaded the free Xamarin Studio IDE?

This page has a gentle introduction to the history of C# and Mono (as related to mobile app development):

http://code.tutsplus.com/tutorials/an-introduction-to-xamarin-part-1--cms-20987

Just something to "wet your lips" and here's hoping that once the Treehouse pipeline (fire hose) for C# and Mono is open the courses just come spewing out...

This would be great! I work in C#/.NET environments at work as a Front-end dev. There's so much I don't know!

Hope it happens!

Awesome :)

I agree!

C# is coming! I'm working on some C# courses right now. I started a Trello board here where you can see what we're working on and plan to do in the near future. https://trello.com/b/WfGXKHAo/treehouse-c-net-content-roadmap
