[MUSIC] 0:00 >> Regardless of whether we work for an agency or enterprise or 0:15 freelance or work for a product company, we're all trying to make something. 0:18 And I, I think that in order for us to make that something excellent, we need 0:23 to be able to understand the various disciplines 0:26 of things that are involved in making that thing. 0:28 [MUSIC] 0:31 My original idea for Blend Conference was to have some of the speakers 0:38 that I've never had a chance to hear at a conference come to Charlotte. 0:40 I wanted to create something where I need to get people of various 0:44 disciplines together to talk about technology, 0:47 talk about design, talk about user experience. 0:49 >> One of the beautiful things about Blend and the multi-track format, is 0:52 the way for a designer, a developer, a UX person, whoever it might be. 0:56 To actually select what it is they sit in on, and 1:01 one of the things I'm excited about is when I see a developer sit 1:03 in on a UX talk, or a UX person sit in on a design talk. 1:06 >> You try to stand up and give people something that will 1:09 make them feel good about wanting to work on their own stuff. 1:13 But then you are also listening to other speakers and it just makes you want to 1:16 work harder, and have something more inspiring and 1:19 more work to show next time you speak. 1:21 [MUSIC] 1:22 >> There's like a rift between when 1:35 the design happens and when development starts. 1:37 And, I know that there needs to be some kind of connection. 1:39 And I think things like Blend, kind of 1:42 enabled that, where designers can sit down with 1:44 a bunch of developers and see developers talking 1:46 about how they go about doing their job. 1:48 And if you design for that, its gonna be 1:50 a lot easier to kind of understand what they go 1:52 through and prepare your files or your process before it 1:54 leaves the designer's hands to get in the development stage 1:57 [MUSIC]. 2:00 >> You have a lot of people who are coming 2:09 in from Charlotte that didn't even know each other before 2:11 and I think as they leave, they're going to have 2:13 friendships and they're gonna keep talking and hopefully even working together. 2:15 >> Being able to, feel the energy off of other 2:18 people, to be able to build off of that, have amazing 2:20 conversations that I wouldn't have had, and just get really personal 2:23 in a way that you can't over issue Q's on GitHub. 2:27 >> Next year, we'll increase the size, we'll 2:30 still keep it about 50 speakers, and then there 2:32 may be rumblings of, of a Blend Conf to South America, we'll see where that goes. 2:35 [MUSIC] 2:39
