In our introductory video we go over what SEO stands for and what this course covers.
Hi, I'm Zac, we're Press Teacher Treehouse, and
I'd like to welcome you to our course SEO for WordPress.
SEO stands for search engine optimization, and
the it's process of making your content accessible to search engines.
Search engines read the content of websites to figure out what a site is
about, and help direct people to content they are interested in.
If you make your site more SEO friendly, then people are going to be more likely to
find it when searching online for related content.
This course will deal specifically with SEO as it relates to WordPress.
We'll assume that you already have a basic understanding of SEO as well as
some of the basic principles and best practices of search engine optimization.
We'll also assume that you know some of the ins and outs of WordPress, like
working in admin area and possibly even some basic WordPress theme development.
This course breaks down into three parts.
In the first part, I'll cover how to use the default admin area
to best optimize your content and site.
In the second section, I'll give you some tips for building themes so
they're best optimized for SEO.
In the third section, I'll show you the most popular WordPress SEO plug in.
And teach you how to configure it, and take your SEO even further.
So with that covered, let's go ahead and jump into our first topic.
