Course Overview1:09 with Zac Gordon
In this introductory video we go over what this course will cover and the background knowledge you will want to have before working through the course.
Hi, I'm Zac.
And in this course, we're going to learn how to use the WordPress Settings API
to add admin area settings to a theme or a plugin.
We will look at how to set up new settings and then add them to a theme option page,
a plugin settings page, or any of the default WordPress settings pages.
Once we look at how to create these fields,
then we could look at how to use them in our themes or plugins.
If you're a WordPress theme developer, you're going to love how this opens up
a whole new level to what customization options you could use to offer your users.
Although this course applies to both theme and
plugin development, most of the examples we look at deal with working with themes.
Since this is an advanced development course,
you'll need to have some experience building WordPress themes or
plugins, as well as have a good understanding of working with PHP.
Now before we jump into coding new settings,
let's go over some basic terms that will be helpful to know.
